My friend Bec surprised me by giving me a pack of gluten free oats which she ordered online from some shop in America. Oats are not generally gluten free since they grown and processed with wheat. I could just eat the g/f oats in porridge but I think it would be more exciting to make other things like cookies, burgers etc. So please share with your favourite oat recipes, I don't want to waste them on recipes that suck.
if you used GF pastry and breadcrumbs could you do a batch of the sausage rolls from the heres the veg blog ?
ReplyDeletePorridge isn't boring! Make it like I do, with vanilla soy milk (or normal soy and then a drizzle of maple syrup) with a huge spoon of peanut/almond/nut butter dolloped on top along with some broken up dark dark chocolate, so that it gets all melty melty heaven...
ReplyDeleteI did have a recipe for cranberry/orange juice/oatmeal cookies years ago, but I have no idea where it went. So really, all in all, I'm entirely unhelpful and probably should go back to my box now.
How kind of bec - those oats must feel like gold if you love them like I do- I agree with Tim about trying the sausage rolls but you could also do a vegan gf haggis easlly if you have gf oats (it isn't hard to do) - here are a few suggestions for hearty oaty vegan gf recipes from my blog:
ReplyDeleteVeg Haggis
Fruit nut and tahini slice
St Patrick's Soup
I also love oats in pancakes and my mum says gf flour is great in pancakes - she made some of the weekend and they were good
