- Empire cafe Gallery (295 Sydney Rd, Brunswick) has a new vegan breaky and lunch menu which included vegan BLT, french toast and they stock Mr Nice Guy Cupcakes.
- Gasometer (484 Smith St, Collingwood) is an omni pub which has some awesome looking vegan options, you can see the menu on this mess+noise thread.
I've discovered and sampled some new vegan products at the g/f expo including:
- Smooze frozen desserts- made from coconut milk with various fruit flavours. Lidia said the the pineapple flavour is like a frozen pina colada. I tried the mango flavour, it was creamy and delicious. They are g/f, vegan and seem to be kind of healthy and can found in the toppings/ice cream cone section of some supermarkets.
- Also tried Sharkies, like vegan gummy bears with electrolytes in them, so addictive that I sampled plenty and then had to buy some
oh my lord! mr nice guy cupcakes look amazing! yay thanks for this!!
ReplyDeleteFrench toast! The only drawback is that it's a bad match for their excellent chips. Must go back, it's been ages since I ate at Empire.
ReplyDeleteI bought a box of those Smooze things at Costco today, they look really yummy.
ReplyDeleteCarla, the choc one I tried yesterday was yummo, can't wait to try the peanut butter choc one.
ReplyDeleteCindy, I'll have to remember that.
Vicki, what flavour?
The box has 3 flavours, coconut & mango, coconut & pink guava and coconut & pineapple. I haven't tried them yet, but am looking forward to it!
ReplyDeletemore gossip(ish) - funky pies (at least 2 varieties anyway) are now being sold in the CBD @ Habib's Wholefoods on Flinders St across from the station.
